Getting an Explorer - Pros and Cons

Postby ricebowl » Wed Apr 07, 2010 4:08 pm

Hey there. Just heard my brother's getting an Explorer.

Kind of following the trend of the large SUV preferences amongst the boys I guess.

I'm not really that into SUVs and all so I'm not quite sure what the pros and cons are in owning them.

For the more hardcore owners/enthusiasts, is it possible to have a brief rundown of what makes these SUVs go?

I'm just a caring big sister who wants to know what her brother's going to get into before it happens.

SUV related pros and cons in general are fine too. Though Explorer specific specs are good too.

Thanks!

I am a big SUV fan. Good thing about SUV's are that you can really use them in rugged terrain but they also have this classy but tough look.

The explorer is a good choice. It looks as good as the expedition but is less expensive. And it comes in a V8 and V6 engine so if you prefer an engine with lesser gas consumption you can get the V6 version.

It's not as big as the expedition but the size is big enough. So I say it's a good choice for an SUV.

I see. Thanks for the information. He did mention something along the lines of wanting a car that was huge and capable of rough and tumble. I'm starting to see what he means by it now.

And that's a relief to hear that you can opt for such an engine. Phew.
